Solutions and Products in Development

Products are in various stages of development;

Pre-analytical - Mosquito Surveillance and Control

Biosciences Research Management (BRM) IA-CEBS attractive sugar bait (ASB) and attractive toxic sugar bait (ATSB) systems relate to BRM designed and manufactured Mosquito Surveillance System (MSS), Mosquito Abatement System (MAS), and Mosquito Surveillance and Abatement System (MSAS) technologies.  Kits are intended for rapid, low cost, easy to use, portable, no power, no cold chain, biostabilizing solutions to aid in mosquito-borne disease agent surveillance and mosquito control.  Particularly, to address multifaceted challenges in achieving efficacious mosquito surveillance and control given increasing infection rates, elusive mosquitoes, focal transmission and heterogeneous distributions of both pathogens and vector populations.  Kit design is focused on the critical need for flexibility to meet challenges presented by diverse mosquito vector ecological characteristics and associated disease agent transmission dynamics.  For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.  Pending EPA approval, MAS and MSAS kits will be available for RUO activities.

Mosquito Surveillance System (MSS)

The IA-CEBS MSS system and methods are substantially different and improved approaches to current mosquito trapping and sample processing methods as well as substantially different and improved approaches to current ASB technologies.  Emphasis is on rapidly generating data and minimizing false-negative results known to frequently occur in vector surveillance.

Predicated on field evaluation results, focus is currently on the establishment and commercialization of an efficacious MSS preformatted kit.  More specifically, field-expedient units each comprised of a durable, self-adherent housing for the deployment of card-based ASB comprising novel reagents generating: multilevel, whole and intact pathogen concentration; thermal and hydrolytic enzyme biostabilization; unique vector attractant blend.  The MSS may serve as an extension of conventional mosquito collection systems or deployed autonomously. The MSS allows for downstream analyses by molecular and immunological methods.

Kit design may be adapted for use in the collection, enrichment, and biostabilization of biological materials generally (e.g., vector biological contents of salivary fluid, excrement, shed tissues and cellular material).

Environmental Surveillance Kits in Development

Hospital:  Hospital acquired infectious agents (e.g. AMR pathogens).

Water:  Water-borne infectious agents (e.g. diarrheal disease).

Food:  Food-borne infectious agents (e.g. diarrheal disease).

Rodent:  Rodent-borne infectious agents (e.g. pathogenic Leptospira) from urine and feces collected in the environment (e.g. surfaces and soil).

Canine:  Canine infectious agents (e.g. pathogenic Leptospira and CBVDs) from urine and feces collected in the environment (e.g. kennel surfaces and wash water effluent).

Soil: Melioidosis (Burkholderia pseudomallei).

Wastewater:  Wastewater-borne infectious agents (surveillance kit).

Analytical - Antigen capture based Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT).  Engineered, high affinity protein designed to exceed the sensitivity and specificity of conventional monoclonal antibody based RDTs, stable at 40° C for months, minimal training needed, results in less than 30 minutes.  Currently in development.
